"Kayla"

Marie grew up with a German Shepherd named Sabina and a Chihuahua named Brandy. At the age of thirteen, she was able to train them both herself, truly without any help other than the books she read; as she was completely in charge of their care. She spent much of her teenage years working with them, watching them play together and do the tricks she taught them.

On Feb 14, 1989, Mike walked in the door hiding something under his coat. Marie said, “Is that candy for me?” and with that, her very first sheltie’s tiny face popped out from under his coat with a big red bow around her neck...

Davino’s Valentine Candy and Marie went on to receive an AKC CD & CDX, and a UKC CD with high scores and several placements!

Davino’s Valentine Candy CDX, UCD Open A 2nd Place score 192

As much as “Candy” brought me into the world of Shelties, She also helped to show me how much fun and rewarding training can be. Since she wrapped herself around my heart, I have become involved in many aspects of training; teaching Puppy Kindergarten, Beginner Basic Obedience & obedience competition in class form as well as private lessons; teaching private agility lessons; competing in AKC And UKC shows; and going to many seminars on behavior given by the top trainers in the country. I have trained many different breeds (among those are Dobermans, Pomeranians, German Shepherds, Chihuahuas...) with many different temperaments. I simply LOVE to watch the changes my students and their pets go through as they learn to communicate with each other. I want each of them to experience the awe and amazement that I feel when I interact with my own dogs; when I ask them for a behavior and they comply with eagerness. I also want them to experience the adoration our dogs give us when we have the correct relationship.

Any dog can be trained at any age if you are willing to put some effort into it...however, the best time to start is when your pup is 8 weeks old!
